Oxygen Advisors is a team of dedicated vCFO’s supporting the growth of ambitious Kiwi entrepreneurs.  In the last twelve months we have raised more early-stage capital for our client base than any other advisory firm in the country, and we are really proud to have been recognised globally by Xero in their best-practice guide for accountancy firms for our vCFO offering.  

We are looking for an experienced finance business partner that is passionate about New Zealand’s start-up and high-growth sector.  As a start-up ourselves, we are also looking for those that have a business owner mindset and can work right across the accounting spectrum.  You will be comfortable advising at a board level, through to presenting meaningful management accounts to support the direction and growth of our clients.  As our business grows, you will be increasingly focused on the strategic advice within your clients as well as towards Oxygen Advisors itself.

You will be looking for an opportunity to really make an impact across New Zealand’s business ecosystem. Combining your accounting experience and commercial knowledge, you will drive outstanding commercial outcomes for a wide range of businesses.  

You will have a CA qualification (or similar) and have strong commercial experience gained in a combination of advisory and commercial accounting roles.  You will also have a strong foundation in management accounting, be technology savvy and be able to offer sound advice backed by numbers.

Oxygen Advisors are a growing team of virtual CFOs that provide commercial support and financial expertise to a variety of start-up and high growth companies, mainly in the technology sector.

About the role

We are looking for an accounts assistant to join our talented team (currently six people). The role has become available due to the previous accounts assistant being promoted to a more senior role within the company.

The accounts assistant will work closely with the small, friendly team providing accounting and administrative support to both Oxygen Advisors and their clients. This role will be based in our modern Herne Bay office, with free on street parking available and on the outer link bus route. It's a casual environment, so there's not a suit or tie in sight!

While the preference is for a full time role, there is flexibility in the hours for the right candidate to work from as little as 24 hours per week, as well as flexibility on what days of the week are worked if they are part time.

Key Tasks

  • Reconciling of Xero bank account transactions.

  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoicing and expense claim processing.

  • Ad hoc assistance on financial and administrative tasks across the business.

Skills and experience

  • Experience working in a commercial environment in a similar role is preferable.

  • Xero experience will be highly favourable.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Reliable and willing to help where needed.

  • To be hands on and take ownership of your role.

  • A quick learner.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Sound MS Office and Excel skills.
